Surgical Technology Diploma

What do they do?
The mission of the Surgical Technology program is to utilize learning experiences in the cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains to prepare students for entry-level employment positions in today's surgical technology profession. Students gain knowledge and experience with aseptic technique, as well as preparation and use of instruments and supplies to be used during surgical procedures. The surgical technologist performs scrubs and/or circulating duties, including passing instruments and supplies to the surgical team members, preparing and positioning the patient, operating equipment, assisting the anesthesiologist, and keeping accurate records.

Where do they work?
The Surgical Technology program prepares students for employment in a variety of positions in today's surgical technology profession.

This program is designed so that graduates can obtain entry-level positions in surgical technology.

What are they paid?
We recommend that prospective students refer to local health care employers for earning potential in their region.  For a national overview of potential earnings, we recommend the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook found in the local library or visit their website.
