TRANSFER OF CREDIT POLICY

Transfer of Credits from Other Institutions

Spencerian College will evaluate and consider awarding proper academic credit for credits earned at institutions that are accredited by agencies recognized by the United States Department of Education. Credit will be approved only for those courses that are equivalent to and that satisfy current program course requirements offered at Spencerian.

Only courses in which a student has earned a grade of C or better will be considered for transfer. Students transferring from another college must provide Spencerian College with an official transcript. Because of ongoing developments in the medical field, some departments at Spencerian require that program specific credits transferred in must be credits earned within a limited time frame. Students must take at least the last 25% of their program at Spencerian.

All students enrolled on a full program charge basis will have any transfer of credit reduction posted during the last quarter of the student’s normal program length. If a student withdraws for any reason before completing the program, no reduction will be made. All students enrolled on a credit hour basis will not have any transfer of credit reduction.

College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Credit

Spencerian College recognizes prior learning by accepting College Level Examination Program (CLEP) tests that measure a student’s mastery of college level, introductory course content. Students meeting the credit granting score standard will earn the credits and course exemptions for those courses in which the required CLEP score has been received. Currently, Spencerian College accepts CLEP scores for English I, algebra, college math, introduction to psychology, introduction to business law, principles of management, introduction to sociology, and financial accounting. Students must submit CLEP scores prior to the quarter in which a course is to be taken.
